Can my MT5 account auto trade a gold strategy that already has a live record?

Is there a way to get my MT5 account auto trading a gold strategy with a real live record behind it, and not just a screenshot of a backtest someone posted in a Discord?

Yes, and you don't have to build anything. Trade By Focus signs in with the MT5 login you already use. Inside it is the Automation Leaderboard, which holds around 900 ready-made strategies. Every one of them has traded live on a demo account, and the whole record is published. Filter the board to gold, pick a strategy whose results you can live with and add it to your own account. That gives you an MT5 gold strategy auto trade setup in a couple of taps. It runs on our servers, not on your phone, so it carries on when the phone's locked in your pocket.

The MetaTrader app will happily place a trade when you tap buy. It won't find you a strategy, show you how that strategy did over the last 90 days, or trade it for you while you sleep. That's the part most people don't expect from an account they've had for years.

Filtering the board down to gold

Open the Automation Leaderboard and you'll see strategies across gold, GBPUSD, USDJPY, Bitcoin, US30, US500, USTEC and GER40. Filter to gold and the list gets a lot shorter. Then choose your ranking window: 7 days, 30 days, 90 days or all time.

That window matters more than people think. The 7-day ranking is the noisiest one on the board. Last Friday, 2 October, US Nonfarm Payrolls came in at 29 against a forecast of 52, and the unemployment rate printed 4.2 against 4.1. Whatever gold did on those releases, a strategy that happened to be on the right side of them could jump up the weekly table off one trade. That tells you very little. I'd start with the 90-day and all-time rankings and only use the 7-day view to see which of those is still holding up right now.

Tap into a strategy and you get its published live demo record. Every trade is there, and so is every loss. This is where you do your real work. Look at the losing streaks and how deep they went. Check whether the losers are roughly the size of the winners or a lot bigger. See when it trades. Some gold strategies do most of their business around the London open at 08:00 UTC and the New York open at 13:30 UTC, while others grind through the Asian session when gold often just ranges out. Neither is wrong. The question is whether you can sit through its bad week without pulling the plug at the worst moment.

I learned this the slow way after following a gold system purely on its win rate, then finding out its losers were far bigger than its winners. A high hit rate can hide a nasty tail, and the full record shows it to you before your money does.

If 900 strategies feels like too much homework, start with Proven Strategies. It's the shortlist we picked from the board. Use it as a starting point, not a guarantee, and still open the record before adding anything.

Adding the MT5 gold strategy to auto trade on your terms

When you add a strategy, the settings are yours. The strategy decides when to trade, but you decide how much and under what conditions.

Lot size is the first setting. Set it for your account, not for the demo account the strategy was ranked on. A record that looks smooth at one size can feel very different when each loss is a bigger slice of your balance.

The news blackout is next. You choose the currency, the impact level and how many minutes either side of the event to pause new entries. Today's a good example. US S&P Global Services PMI is due at 14:45 UK time and ISM Non-Manufacturing Prices Paid follows at 15:00. Gold can rip through stops in both directions on US data, so a USD high-impact blackout covering that window keeps the strategy from opening anything new into the spike.

Equity protection is the third setting. It's your floor. If the account drops by the amount you've chosen, the automation stops opening new trades. That way a bad run stays a bad run and doesn't turn into a blown account.

Then pick a mode. Notify-only sends you each signal and places nothing, so you can watch what the strategy would have done. Semi-auto gives you a 60-second countdown on your phone before each trade goes in, with time to step in if something looks off. Fully automatic just runs it. The 7-day free trial is long enough to run a gold strategy in notify-only for a full week and check whether its calls match the published record. After that, move to semi-auto, and only go fully automatic once you trust it.

Whichever mode you pick, the trades land on your own broker account and show up on your Trades tab like any other position. They also feed into the Journal, so after a month you can compare how the strategy did on your account with how it did on the board. If you want to see the platform before signing in, it's all at tradebyfocus.com.

If your version of this question is a bit different, like which gold strategies suit a smaller account or how equity protection behaves when price gaps over the weekend, ask on the support page and you'll get a straight answer from someone who trades.
