How to Put Five Take Profits on One MT5 Trade and Never Touch It Again

How to Put Five Take Profits on One MT5 Trade and Never Touch It Again

Most traders who've had an MT5 account for years have no idea it can scale out of a trade across five separate targets, closing a slice at each one, without them doing anything. Not because the account can't do it. Because the MetaTrader mobile app won't let you set it up. You get one stop and one take profit. That's the ceiling. So that's what people use.

If you want an mt5 multiple take profit levels app, the account you already have can do it. You just need a different interface for it.

What the MetaTrader app actually lets you do

To be fair to it: the standard MetaTrader app is fine for getting in and out of a trade. You can place a market order, set a stop, set a single TP. It does that reliably. But one TP is the hard limit. There's no partial close at TP1 while leaving the rest running. There's no trailing stop that kicks in at TP2. There's no auto-breakeven once you're up. You do all of that yourself, manually, on the phone, while watching the price move. That's where the stress comes from.

A lot of traders just move their one TP further out to catch more of the move, then watch the trade retrace past their original target and feel terrible about it. Or they close the whole thing early because they can't hold. The MetaTrader app didn't give them a better option.

The preset builder in Trade By Focus

Trade By Focus connects to the MT5 account you already have. Any broker, demo or live, just the account number and password to start the session (the password is discarded after that, never stored). Once you're in, the trading panel looks different from MetaTrader because it carries a lot more.

The preset builder is where you set up the full trade structure before you're even near a live setup. For each pair, you can save up to five presets. Each one carries:

  • Lot size
  • Stop loss in pips or price
  • Up to five take-profit levels (TP1 through TP5), each with its own partial close percentage
  • Auto-breakeven (trigger it at TP1, TP2, or whenever you like)
  • Trailing stop (can start from TP1, TP2, breakeven, or a set profit in pips)

So a typical structure might look like: close 30% at TP1, close 30% at TP2, move stop to breakeven at TP1, trail the remaining 40% from TP2 until it gets stopped out or hits TP4. You build that once. You save it. You arm it for GBPUSD or gold or whatever you're trading. Then every new entry you place on that pair goes in with that entire structure attached, automatically.

I built a five-level preset for gold around the London open (08:00 UTC) and left it armed for a few weeks. Stopped thinking about trade management entirely. The position just did what it was supposed to do each time.

What "armed" actually means

Once a preset is armed for a pair, you're not applying it manually to each trade. You tap to enter and the preset fires with it. The TP ladder, the partial close percentages, the trailing stop config, all of it goes in with the order. You don't have to think about it at entry. You don't have to watch the trade and decide when to close a piece.

The management runs on Trade By Focus's servers, not your phone. So it keeps working when the app is closed, when your screen is locked, when you've got no signal on the train. The auto-breakeven triggers when TP1 hits and moves the stop to entry, even if your phone is sitting face-down on a desk. The trailing stop follows price from TP2 whether you're watching or not. That's the bit people find genuinely surprising the first time they see it: the trade managed itself while they weren't there.

You can also change any of it on an open trade from the Manage panel. If the trade is going well and you want to push TP4 further out, you can do that. If you want to close the remaining position early because news is coming, you can do that too. The preset is a starting structure, not a cage.

A specific example: five levels on GBPUSD

Take a GBPUSD long entry at 1.2800 off the London open. In the mt5 multiple take profit levels app, you'd set up the preset like this before the session:

  • TP1: 1.2820 (20 pips), close 25%
  • TP2: 1.2845 (45 pips), close 25%, move stop to breakeven
  • TP3: 1.2870 (70 pips), close 20%, start trailing stop
  • TP4: 1.2910 (110 pips), close 15%
  • TP5: 1.2950 (150 pips), close the remaining 15%

That's five separate profit-taking levels, each sized, each automated. If the pair rips through TP1, TP2 and TP3 while you're in a meeting, the position has already scaled out 70% of the trade and the stop is somewhere much better than where you entered. If it then reverses, you've taken the money at the levels you planned and the trailing stop handles the rest. If it keeps going, TP4 and TP5 let you stay in without having to decide anything in the moment.

The MetaTrader app gives you one shot at one level. This gives you five, each doing something specific.

Arming it for the next trade

After you've tested the structure and you're happy with it, you arm the preset and put the phone down. The next entry you make on that pair, whether it's a market order or a limit, carries the full ladder. There's no setup at entry time. No rushing to add a second TP before the candle closes. No forgetting to move the stop when TP1 hits.

The mt5 multiple take profit levels app approach is: do the thinking once, in the preset builder, when you're calm and not watching a live trade. Then let the structure do the boring part.

That's the actual shift. Not having five TPs is useful. Having them fire automatically, on the server, every time you enter, without you being involved, is the thing that changes how you trade. Most traders can plan a five-level exit. Very few can execute it manually across multiple trades in a row without making a mess of at least one of them.

If you've got an MT5 account, the infrastructure for this already exists. Trade By Focus is the interface that gives you access to it, with a 7-day free trial. Sign in with your MT5 login and the preset builder is right there.
