Your MT5 Account Can Close 30 Percent at TP1, 30 Percent at TP2 and Trail the Rest Automatically

Most traders with an MT5 account have no idea this is possible. Not because it's hidden, exactly, but because the MetaTrader app never offered it, so nobody thought to look. You open a trade, you set one take profit, and you wait. Price hits it, or it doesn't. That's the whole experience the native app gives you.

But the account itself? The account can do a lot more than that. Connect it to Trade By Focus and you get something MetaTrader's app has never had: mt5 partial close across multiple take profit levels, running automatically on Trade By Focus's servers, with nothing left open on your phone.

What the MetaTrader app actually gives you

To be fair about it: MetaTrader 5 is a solid execution layer. You can place market orders, set a single take profit, attach a stop loss, and manage positions one at a time through the terminal. On mobile, you get a basic trailing stop that runs only while the app is connected and the session is live. Close the app or lose signal, and it stops tracking.

What you cannot do in the native MetaTrader app is tell a position to close 30% at one price, another 30% at a second price, and then trail the remaining 40% from wherever it sits. There's no preset system, no partial-close automation, and no server-side execution. Every one of those things has to be done manually, in real time, while the trade is open. Which, if you've tried it during a volatile London open, you already know is basically a coin toss.

How Trade By Focus handles it

When you connect your MT5 account to Trade By Focus, you build a preset before you enter a trade. A preset is where you set your lot size, your stop loss, your breakeven rules, your trailing stop, and your take-profit ladder. That ladder can have up to five levels, TP1 through TP5, and at each level you choose what percentage of the position closes.

So in practice: you're watching XAUUSD (gold) set up for a move into London. You've got a zone you like, maybe 30 pips of range, and you know from experience that it'll often punch through a first target quickly before pausing or pulling back. You set TP1 to close 30% of the position, TP2 to close another 30%, TP3 to close 20%, and you leave the remaining 20% with a trailing stop that kicks in once TP2 is hit. Save it as a preset. When you enter the trade, all five levels go in automatically with it.

Once the trade is live, you don't touch it. Price hits TP1, Trade By Focus closes 30% on the server side and, if you've set it, moves the stop to breakeven at the same moment. Price hits TP2, another 30% comes off. The remaining 40% is now on a trailing stop that's following price up, looking for the extended move. If gold rips another 80 pips, you're still in for part of it. If it reverses at TP2, the worst outcome is that your remaining size exits at breakeven. You banked profit on the first two legs either way.

I set something similar up a while back on a pair that kept stopping me out just before a second wave. The trade would hit my one take profit and close fully, then price would continue another 100+ pips in my direction. Splitting the position was the obvious fix, but doing it manually while watching the candles is a different skill from the one I was trying to trade. Running it through a preset removed that entirely.

Setting it up, from first tap to live trade

You connect any MT5 broker account in under two minutes: broker, account number, password. The password is forwarded once to start the session and then discarded. Trade By Focus never stores it, and your funds stay in your broker account throughout.

With the account connected, go to the chart for whatever pair you're trading and open the preset builder. Set your lot size and your stop. Then work down the take-profit fields. Each TP has a price level (or a pip distance from entry) and a close percentage. You can use all five or just two. The percentages don't have to be equal. Close 50% at TP1 and split the rest across TP3 and TP5 if that fits your setup. The platform handles whatever split you give it.

Set auto-breakeven to trigger at TP1, or at whichever level makes sense for the trade. Set your trailing stop to activate at TP2, TP3, or once a certain amount of profit is banked. Save the preset against that pair. The next time you enter a trade on that pair with that preset armed, every single exit rule is already attached.

All of it runs on Trade By Focus's servers. The mt5 partial close logic, the breakeven trigger, the trailing stop progression: none of it depends on your phone being open, your connection being live, or the MetaTrader app running in the background. You can lock your phone and walk away. The exits happen anyway.

Changing it while the trade is open

You're not locked into the preset once you're in. Open the Manage panel on any live trade and you can adjust the remaining TP levels, change the trailing stop distance, or move the stop manually. Trade By Focus updates the position in real time. If the market structure changes and you want to tighten TP3 or cancel TP4 entirely, you do it from the panel and it applies immediately on the server side.

For those who want to go further, the live chart shows your stop, breakeven level and all open TP levels as draggable lines. Drag TP2 up by 15 pips and the server updates the order. It's the kind of trade management that normally only exists in a desktop terminal, sitting on your phone, on an account you already have.

The thing MetaTrader doesn't tell you

The MT5 account you've been trading on is capable of mt5 partial close at multiple take profit levels. It always was. The MetaTrader app just never had the interface to set it up or the server infrastructure to run it without your device. That's the gap Trade By Focus fills.

If your standard approach is one entry, one target, full close: that's fine, and there are setups where it's the right call. But on trending pairs during active sessions, on instruments like gold or GBPUSD where a genuine move can extend well past an obvious first target, leaving nothing in the trade past TP1 is a habit worth questioning. A scale-out preset costs you one setup session and then runs itself from there.

If you've got an MT5 account, you've already got what you need to start. Trade By Focus is live at tradebyfocus.com with a 7-day free trial: sign in with your MT5 login, build a preset with two or three TP levels, and let the server handle the exits on the next trade you take.
