Your MT5 Account Can Run a Ready-Made Strategy in About Two Minutes

Most traders who've had an MT5 account for years assume the only way to automate anything is to hire someone to code an Expert Advisor, run it on a VPS, and hope it doesn't blow up while you're asleep. A fair assumption. MetaTrader gives you no other route.

There is another route, and it's already attached to the MT5 account you have.

What the Automation Leaderboard actually is

When you connect your MT5 account to Trade By Focus, one of the tabs you'll find is the Automation Leaderboard. It's a live ranked list of roughly 900 ready-made strategies, each one being traded on a demo account in real time with the full record published: every entry, every exit, every loss, ranked by actual results over the last 7, 30, or 90 days, or all time.

The instruments covered are gold, GBPUSD, USDJPY, Bitcoin, US30, US500, USTEC and GER40. So if you trade any of those, there's a strategy running live on it right now. The ranking isn't based on a backtest or a hypothetical equity curve someone put together in a spreadsheet. It's based on what happened this week, this month, on a live demo feed, with no curve-fitting to speak of.

I've looked at enough backtested results to know they're almost meaningless. A strategy that made 400 pips in a backtest on GBPUSD very often did it by catching one trend in 2022 and riding it. The Leaderboard is different because the record is ongoing and public. The losses are in there. You can see the drawdown. You're not being sold a highlight reel.

How you actually add a pre built strategy to your MT5 account

You tap on a strategy that interests you. You see its full live demo record, the instruments it trades, how it's been performing lately, and what the equity curve looks like. If you want to run it, you tap to add it.

Before it goes live, you set three things yourself. First, your lot size. The strategy's own sizing is irrelevant to you; you type in whatever lot size fits your account. Second, a news blackout window. You pick which currency pairs trigger a pause and how many minutes either side of a high-impact event you want the strategy sitting on its hands. GBPUSD strategies in particular need this around the Bank of England and NFP; gold needs it around Fed decisions. The platform handles the pause automatically once you've set your preferences. Third, equity protection. You set the maximum drawdown you're willing to take before the strategy stops opening new trades for the day.

Then you choose a mode. Notify-only means the strategy fires a signal and you decide whether to act on it. Semi-auto gives you a 60-second countdown where you can confirm or cancel before it enters. Fully automatic means it enters, manages, and exits without needing anything from you. The trade management side, take-profits, stop movements, trailing stops, all of it runs on Trade By Focus's servers, so it keeps working whether your phone is locked in your pocket or out of signal entirely.

That's it. The whole process from opening the Leaderboard to having a strategy running on your MT5 account takes about two minutes if you read slowly.

A quick example: gold around the New York open

Say you find a gold strategy on the Leaderboard that's been profitable over the last 30 days with a respectable win rate and a drawdown you can stomach. Gold is alive during the London session from 08:00 UTC and gets another push when New York opens at 13:30 UTC, so a strategy running live on XAU/USD is going to be active during those windows.

You add it, set 0.05 lots because you're not going to run a new automation at full size on day one, set a news blackout of 15 minutes either side of USD high-impact events, cap the daily drawdown at 2% of your account balance, and set it to semi-auto so you get a 60-second window to confirm each trade for the first week. After a few days of seeing how it behaves, you switch it to fully automatic and let it run.

The MetaTrader app you've been using for years cannot do any of this. It can place a trade. It cannot run an automation like this, cannot apply a news blackout, cannot manage a five-level take-profit ladder on its own, and certainly can't do any of it with the app closed. That's not a criticism of MetaTrader; it's just what it was built for.

The Proven Strategies shortlist

If 900 options feels like too much to sort through, Trade By Focus also maintains a shortlist called Proven Strategies. These are strategies the platform has hand-picked from the Leaderboard based on their live demo records. It's a smaller list, less sorting required, same process to add one. Worth starting there if you want to add a pre built strategy to your MT5 account without spending an hour comparing equity curves.

You can always go back to the full Leaderboard once you've got a feel for how the modes work.

What happens on the chart

Once a strategy is running, its trades appear in your Trade By Focus live chart the same as any trade you'd placed manually. Entry, stop, take-profit levels are all visible as draggable lines. You can watch it work, or you can close the app and let it get on with it. The journal picks up everything automatically: every entry and exit gets logged, your win rate and profit factor update, and if you want to review a trade later, Trade Replay lets you play it back bar by bar on the chart.

Nothing to install. No VPS subscription. No EA file to source and configure. The MT5 account you already have, doing something you probably didn't know it could do.

If you've got an MT5 account, you've already got everything you need to try this. Trade By Focus is live with a 7-day free trial: connect your existing MT5 login and the Automation Leaderboard is right there waiting.
