Why your 0.01 trade closes in full at TP1 and leaves no runner
You copy a gold signal with TP1, TP2 and TP3 at 0.01 lots, and the whole trade closes at TP1. Or you set a runner to ride the move further, and nothing is left open after the last target.
That isn't the app ignoring your settings. The broker's minimum lot decides how many pieces a position can be cut into, and a 0.01 trade can't be cut at all.
Where the split and the runner live
For a signal group, the split sits in the group's settings. Go to Signals (or More → Signal Groups), tap Edit on the group's card and find Take-profit splits (TP1-TP5 %). This is the share of the position that closes at each target the signal gives. You set it with the − and + buttons or by typing in the box. The default is TP1 50 / TP2 30 / TP3 20, and one split covers every pair in that group.
Under each TP label the editor shows the real lots that percentage closes, such as "closes 0.03 lots". It turns amber when the lot is too small for the split you've set.
Under TP5 there's a Leave a runner toggle. It keeps part of the position open past the last take profit. A "Left open" row appears, and the splits plus the runner always add up to 100%, for example TP1 50 / TP2 30 / leave 20 running. Always move to break-even goes well with it, because it moves your stop to entry once your chosen take profit hits, so the runner can't turn into a loss.
The split and the runner only work when the group is on Follow their signals exactly. On Use my preset the group's split block is greyed out and does nothing, because the preset owns the whole ladder. In that case you change the split in the preset itself. On the chart, tap Presets, then EDIT on the slot. Each rung from TP1 to TP5 has a distance and a share, set on a slider that shows the real lots, for example "TP1 closes 0.01 of 0.06 lots".
In both cases it's one position closed in pieces, not several trades. A three-way split on 0.03 opens a single 0.03 position and closes 0.01 at each target. You see one row in Trades, and its lot size shrinks as each target hits.
The broker minimum decides what's possible
The smallest amount a broker will close is 0.01 lots on gold and FX. So the number of pieces available is your lot size divided by 0.01.
- 0.01 can't split. The whole position closes at its first target, whatever the percentages say.
- 0.02 gives two pieces at most.
- 0.03 gives three pieces at most.
- Five targets need 0.05.
- Indices have a 0.1 minimum, so a partial close there needs 0.2.
Slices smaller than 0.01 are rounded up, so 5% of 0.10 really closes 10%. Where the size allows, 0.01 is kept back for each remaining target. If one slice takes everything that's left, the later targets never fire. The same limit applies to the runner: on a single position, a runner of less than 0.01 lots can't be kept, and the setup screen warns you about it.
In a preset, a 0.01 trade shows TP2 as "Partial Close Unavailable". The app never rewrites your percentages to fit. It shows an amber note and keeps your figures exactly as you entered them, and they work again once the size can carry them. This is a broker lot-size limit, not a bug and not a preset that failed to save.
Your lot size is your decision. A smaller size that closes in full at TP1 is a perfectly sound way to trade. It just isn't a split. If you want to split a lot across take profits, the size has to be big enough to carry the pieces.
Things to watch
The runner has no take profit. Nothing closes it automatically. You close it yourself from Trades or the Manage panel.
Five targets is the ceiling. If a group posts six or more, the extras are dropped. There's no TP6 setting, and a bigger lot won't add one. If you want to catch a far-out TP6 or TP7, use the runner.
No targets, no split. A signal with no take profits has nothing to split. The trade runs to its stop or a follow-up message. Check the group's Feed before you assume the split failed.
Laddered groups keep the runner as whole orders. If each order is too small to scale out, the runner is kept as runner % times the number of orders, rounded. 55% over 5 orders keeps 3. Less than half an order, such as 5% over 5, keeps none.
You won't see each piece as its own row. The Trades tab shows one exit at the average price of every piece, and MT5's History groups by position too. To see each close, open Trade Replay, which marks every partial close on the chart, or switch MT5 History from Positions to Deals.
