Equity protection and Profit Lock for MT5

Each automation, signal group and copier can carry its own loss limit, but none of them can see the others: eight groups capped at 5% each could still lose 40% of an account in a day. Equity Protection adds limits that sit above them all.

Set a daily and a weekly limit, as a percentage or a cash amount, on four sections: the whole account, all automations together, all signal groups together, and your own trades. When a limit is reached, choose whether to stop new trades or close everything in that section. Equity Protection is live and marked beta while we keep measuring how closely a close lands in fast news markets.

Also known as: daily drawdown limit · max daily loss · equity guard · equity stop · account protection · prop firm daily loss rule · lock in daily profit · kill switch

What it does

Features

Four sections, daily and weekly

Whole account, all automations, all signal groups, and your own trades, each with a daily limit that resets at your own midnight and a weekly one that resets on Saturday.

Counts what MetaTrader does too

The whole-account and own-trades sections include trades placed directly in MetaTrader, not only trades placed through the app.

Stop or close

Either stop opening new trades and let open ones run to their own stop or take profit, or close everything in the section there and then. Closing is done by your own MetaTrader 5, checked many times a second.

Profit Lock

The winning side: once a section has banked the profit you set, it stops for the day or week, and can close its open trades to lock the profit in.

Every setting

Equity Protection settings

Names and choices exactly as they appear in the app.

Whole account (master) — protection on/off

Switches the whole-account section on or off. Switching it off keeps your figures for when you turn it back on.

Default: Off

Whole account (master) — stop after losing (percentage)

The backstop: every trade on the account added together, including trades placed directly in MetaTrader. Once today's banked loss reaches this percentage of your balance, nothing new opens until your own midnight. Each automation and group can carry its own limit, but none of them can see the others; this one can.

Default: Off — switching this section on starts at 20%

Whole account (master) — stop after losing (cash)

The whole-account daily loss limit as a cash amount. If both are set, the cash amount applies.

Default: Not set — the percentage is used

Whole account (master) — what the loss limit does

When the limit is reached: stop opening new trades and let open ones run to their own stop or take profit, or close everything out there and then. Closing is done by your own MetaTrader 5, checked many times a second.

Default: Stop opening new trades

Whole account (master) — Profit Lock: lock in after making (percentage)

Profit Lock for the whole account: once today's banked profit reaches this percentage, nothing new opens until tomorrow, and open trades can be closed to lock it in if you choose.

Default: Off

Whole account (master) — stop after making (cash)

The whole-account Profit Lock as a cash amount. If both are set, the cash amount applies.

Default: Not set — the percentage is used

Whole account (master) — stop after losing THIS WEEK (percentage)

The same loss limit over the week, which resets every Saturday on your own clock. Every section has a weekly limit as well as a daily one, as a percentage or cash.

Default: Off

Whole account (master) — Profit Lock THIS WEEK (percentage)

Questions

Equity protection and Profit Lock, answered

Will it close exactly at my figure?

Usually very close to it. Prices move in small jumps, so a close normally lands within about one jump of the figure. A large trade size or a gap (a weekend open or a big news release) can take it further, and nothing can close at a price the market never offered.

Does it work for prop firm accounts?

It works on any MT5 account you connect. A daily loss limit on the whole account behaves like a prop firm's daily drawdown rule, but your firm's own rules and measurements are what count for them.
