Telegram signal copier for MT5: every feature and setting

Trade By Focus copies trades from Telegram signal groups onto your own MetaTrader 5 account. You connect your own Telegram account and pick from the groups you are already in. There is no bot to add, and the group owner does not need to do anything or even know.

Copying runs on our servers around the clock, so nothing needs to stay open on your phone or computer, and there is no VPS to rent. It works with any MT5 broker, demo or live.

Also known as: Telegram to MT5 copier · Telegram signal bot alternative · signal copier · copy trading from Telegram · MT5 signal automation · layered entries · laddered entries · grid entry within a zone · scale-in entries

What it does

Features

Reads signals the way groups really post them

Instant "buy now" and "sell now" calls, single entry prices (placed as limit or stop orders), entry zones, two entry prices, extra entries posted as layers or "relayer" levels, a buy and a sell in one message, gold prices written as two digits, and calls posted before their levels. When you follow a group exactly, edits to a message and later follow-ups (move to break-even, close, new take profits) are applied to the live trade.

Layered entries (laddering)

An entry zone can be split across up to five orders through the zone, each carrying its own take profit, so the size averages in. You can also layer every signal, including single-price calls and calls with no price at all, with the orders spaced towards the stop loss.

Smart Entry and zone choices

Wait for the best fill in a zone, rest one order in the middle or at the far end, or let Smart Entry enter straight away when a zone is already right next to the price, so a trade is not missed by a few points.

Your own trade management on their signals

Follow the group exactly, or take only its entry and manage the trade with your own preset: up to five take profits with your own split, break-even at the take profit you choose, a trailing stop, and a runner left open past the last take profit.

Size by risk

Trade a fixed lot size, or a size worked out from each signal's own stop loss so the same percentage of your account is risked on every trade.

Filters that skip the trades you would not take

Skip signals whose take profit is too small for the spread, do not chase a move the group already took profit on, skip a late "now" call price has already run past, trade only inside your hours and days, and pause around high-impact news.

Mistyped levels caught

A take profit that does not fit the rest of the signal (a typo that is still a believable price) is left out and flagged, rather than traded. A correction posted by the group is applied.

Limits on each group

Daily and weekly loss limits and Profit Lock on each group, as a percentage or cash, plus limits across all your groups together on the Equity Protection page.

Every setting

Signal group settings

Names and choices exactly as they appear in the app.

Group on / off

Switches the whole group off. A group that is off places no trades.

Default: On

How to trade these signals

Follow the group exactly (its own stop loss, take profits and follow-up messages), or take only the entry from the group and manage the trade with your own saved preset.

  • Follow their signals exactly
  • Use my preset

Default: Follow their signals exactly

How long a signal stays valid

How long a signal waiting for its entry price stays live. An order that has not filled by then is cancelled, so an old call cannot fill hours later in a different market.

Choices: No expiry — waits until cancelled · End of day (midnight UTC) · 5 minutes · 10 minutes · 15 minutes · 20 minutes · 25 minutes · 30 minutes · 1 hour · 2 hours · 4 hours · 8 hours · 12 hours

Default: 30 minutes

Preset used by this group

The saved preset that supplies trade size, stop loss, take profits, break-even and trailing stop when the group is set to use your own preset.

Default: None

Trade this group

Trade the group's signals on your account, or pause it so its signals are only watched and logged.

  • Paused
  • Trade signals

Default: Trade signals

Trade size (fixed lots)

A fixed lot size for every trade from this group.

Default: 0.01 lots

How the size is worked out

How trade size is decided for this group: a fixed lot size, or a size worked out from each signal's own stop loss so the same percentage of your account is risked on every trade, whatever the pair or stop distance.

  • Fixed lot size
  • Risk a percentage of the account per trade

Default: Fixed lot size

Risk per trade

With percentage sizing, the share of your account lost if a trade's stop loss is hit. The size is worked out from the stop that is actually placed, so a trade cannot risk more than this unless the broker's smallest lot size is already bigger.

Default: 0.5%

How much closes at each take profit

How much of the position closes at each of up to five take profits, so the trade scales out in stages. Any share not closed can be left as a runner.

Default: 50 percent at the first, 30 at the second, 20 at the third

Which instruments this group can trade

Which instruments the group may trade on your account, each with its own size or preset, matched to your broker's own symbol names. A signal for anything not on the list is logged and skipped.

Default: Empty — nothing mapped yet

Trade signals with no stop loss

What happens to a call posted without a stop loss. Off, it waits for the group to add the stop (by editing the message or in a follow-up) and is not traded if none comes. On, it opens straight away and the stop is added when it arrives.

Default: Off — a call with no stop loss waits for its stop

Always move the stop to break-even

Moves your stop loss to the entry price once a take profit is reached, even if the group never says to. A break-even call from the group is held to the same level, so it cannot pull your stop up earlier than you chose.

Default: Off

Break-even level

Which take profit moves the stop to break-even. Waiting for the second take profit stops a trade being closed at entry when price dips back before running on.

  • At the first take profit
  • At the second take profit
  • At the third take profit
  • At the fourth take profit

Default: At the first take profit

Minimum take profit size

Skips signals whose first take profit is so close to the entry that the spread would eat most of the win, while a loss would still be taken in full.

  • Off — take every signal — Every signal from this group is traded, no matter how small its take profit.
  • Skip very tight take profits — Skips only the signals with a very tight first take profit — the ones where the spread would eat most of the win. Keeps almost everything else.
  • Balanced — skip small take profits (recommended) — Skips signals whose first take profit is small compared with the spread, and trades the rest. Fewer trades, but each one has room to be worth having. This is the setting we use on our own tracking.
  • Only large take profits — Only trades signals aiming for a big move. This skips a lot of signals — expect far fewer trades from this group.

Default: Off — take every signal

Leave a runner

Keeps a share of the position open past the last take profit for a bigger move. Pairs well with moving the stop to break-even.

Default: Off

Ignore the group's exit calls

Ignore the group's calls to close early or move to break-even, so each trade runs to its own stop loss and take profits. Updated take profits and stop moves that reduce risk still apply; the group can no longer widen your stop.

Default: Off

How a zone entry is filled

How a signal with an entry zone is filled: one order hunting the best price in the zone, a layered entry split across several orders through the zone, or one order resting in the middle or at the far end. The last choice layers every signal, including single-price calls and calls with no price at all such as "sell gold slowly", spacing the orders towards the stop loss so the size averages in.

  • One order hunting the best fill in the zone
  • Split the size across several orders through the zone
  • Rest one order in the middle of the zone
  • Rest one order at the far end of the zone (best price, can miss trades)
  • Split the size across several orders on every signal, including single-price ones and calls with no price

Default: One order hunting the best fill in the zone

How many orders in the zone

How many orders a layered zone entry is split across, from 1 to 5. Each order normally carries its own take profit, so the best-priced order rides furthest. If price runs away without returning, only the first order fills.

Default: 3

Smart Entry

When an entry zone is already very close to the current price, enters straight away instead of waiting, so a trade is not missed when price hovers just outside the zone.

Default: Off

Do not chase a move we missed

If the group announces a take profit before your entry has filled, and live prices confirm it really was reached, your waiting order is cancelled instead of chasing a move that has already happened.

Default: On

Cancel the waiting order at

Which announced take profit cancels a waiting order. Choosing the second or third suits groups that bank a small first take profit and often pull back to the entry before continuing.

  • At the first take profit
  • At the second take profit
  • At the third take profit

Default: At the first take profit

Skip a late “now” the price has already run past

If a "buy now" or "sell now" reaches you after price has already passed the group's first take profit, it is skipped rather than entered at a worse price. Your feed says why.

Default: On

Trading hours and days

Only take this group's signals inside the hours and days you choose. Anything posted outside them is logged and skipped.

Default: Off (when on: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 20:00 UTC)

Pause around high-impact news

Stop taking new signals for a set number of minutes either side of a high-impact economic release for that pair's currencies.

Default: Off (when on: 30 minutes before and after)

Equity protection — stop after losing

A daily loss limit for this one group, as a percentage of your balance. Once its own trades have lost that much today it stops opening anything new until tomorrow.

Default: Off (switching it on starts at 5%)

Equity protection — stop after losing (cash)

The same daily loss limit for this group as a cash amount in your account currency. If both are set, the cash amount applies.

Default: Not set (the percentage is used)

Equity protection — what happens when it is reached

When the group reaches its loss limit: only stop it opening new trades, or also close the trades it already has open. Trades from other groups, automations or your own trading are never touched.

  • Stop trading for the day (open trades are left alone)
  • Close this group's open trades as well

Default: Stop trading for the day (open trades are left alone)

Equity protection — stop after losing this week

A weekly loss limit for this group. Once reached, it opens nothing new until the week resets on Saturday.

Default: Off

Equity protection — stop after losing this week (cash)

The weekly loss limit for this group as a cash amount. If both are set, the cash amount applies.

Default: Not set (the percentage is used)

Profit Lock — stop after making (today)

Profit Lock for this group: once its trades have banked this much today, as a percentage of your balance, it stops opening new trades until tomorrow.

Default: Off

Profit Lock — stop after making (today, cash)

The daily Profit Lock as a cash amount. If both are set, the cash amount applies.

Default: Not set (the percentage is used)

Profit Lock — stop after making (this week)

Profit Lock over the week: once this group has banked this much this week, it stops opening new trades until Saturday.

Default: Off

Profit Lock — stop after making (this week, cash)

The weekly Profit Lock as a cash amount. If both are set, the cash amount applies.

Default: Not set (the percentage is used)

Profit Lock — what happens when it is reached

When Profit Lock is reached: only stop new trades, or also close the group's open trades there and then so the profit is banked. The close is made by your own MetaTrader 5 at market, so in a fast market it can land a little either side of the figure.

  • Stop trading for the day (open trades are left alone)
  • Close this group's open trades as well

Default: Stop trading for the day (open trades are left alone)

Questions

Telegram signal copier, answered

Can it do layered or laddered entries from a Telegram signal?

Yes. A signal that gives an entry zone can be split across up to five orders through the zone, each with its own take profit. You can also choose to layer every signal, including single-price calls and "sell now" calls with no price, with the orders spaced towards the stop loss. Separately, signals with several take profits are closed in stages at each one.

Do I need to add a bot to the Telegram group?

No. You connect your own Telegram account and choose groups you are already a member of. Nothing is added to the group and the owner does nothing.

What happens when the group edits a signal or posts a follow-up?

When the group is set to be followed exactly, edits and later instructions such as moving the stop to break-even, closing early or changing take profits are applied to your live trade. You can also choose to ignore its exit calls and let each trade run to its own stop and take profits.

What if a signal arrives without a stop loss?

By default the call waits for the group to add its stop, by editing the message or in a follow-up, and is not traded if none comes. You can switch that off to enter straight away and add the stop when it arrives.

Which instruments can it copy?

Everything on our chart: forex majors and crosses, gold, silver, major indices such as NAS100, US30, S&P 500, GER40 and UK100, oil and Bitcoin, matched to your own broker's symbol names.

Do I need a VPS or to leave MetaTrader running?

No. Your MT5 connection is hosted on our servers and runs 24/7, so signals are copied with your phone off and your computer closed.
